The project stems from the desire to transform a former cinema into an experimental contemporary art laboratory, restoring unity to a once-fragmented architectural structure. The building’s memory is linked to the present through a process of emptying and regeneration, in which the void becomes the true stage set: a central courtyard that recalls the ancient retractable roof and reinterprets its meaning according to contemporary needs. The Green Screen theme alludes to the famous cinematic device that allows for the projection of infinite scenarios against a neutral background; thus, the building itself is configured as a living and evolving screen, capable of accommodating diverse functions, languages, and communities. The concrete partition, the distributive backbone, orchestrates flows and in turn becomes a projection and installation surface. The interior spaces are reconfigured with hybrid functions—co-working, workshops, artist residences—and traversed by mobile elements that amplify their versatility. Finally, the terrace opens to the city as a new vantage point and social hub, transforming the former cinema into a cultural catalyst. In this way, the project presents itself as a dynamic and inclusive architecture, capable of narrating the past but also hosting infinite future narratives.
